HMD Global begins rolling out Android 10 to the Nokia 3.2

HMD Global plans to release the Android 10 update to all of its supported devices during the first half of 2020, and today, it's taking another step towards that goal. HMD Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, announced that the latest version of Android is now rolling out to the Nokia 3.2, making it the ninth Nokia smartphone to get Android 10.

The release is in line with HMD's roadmap for the rollout of Android 10, which saw some changes last month due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a new move for the company, there's actually a detailed overview of how the update is being rolled out in the community forums. The first wave of the release includes 32 markets:

Armenia

Azerbaijan

Bangladesh

Belarus

Belgium

Cambodia

Denmark

Estonia

Finland

Georgia

Hong Kong

Iceland

India

Kazakhstan

Laos

Latvia

Lithuania

Luxembourg

Macau

Malaysia

Mongolia

Myanmar

Nepal

Netherlands

Norway

Philippines

Russia

Sri Lanka

Sweden

Thailand

Ukraine

Vietnam

In these markets, 10% of users will get the update today, and 50% will get the update by April 10. The update will be fully rolled out by April 12, after which point, more markets are likely to get the update.

There are a few other phones that should get the update in the next few days and weeks, including the Nokia 2.3, 3.1 Plus, 4.2, 6.2, and 8 Sirocco. Later on, the update will come to the rest of the company's smartphones, excluding the 2017 models that are now out of support.

Android 10 was first released by Google in September of last year, and it includes a handful of new features and changes, such as gesture-based navigation and a system-wide dark mode. Since HMD's implementation of Android is very similar to Google's, most of the improvements should be similar to what Pixel devices received.
