Earlier this year, we saw a team of dedicated developers bring Windows on ARM - full version of Windows 10 designed for ARM chipsets - to the Lumia 950 family, which is only supposed to run Windows 10 Mobile. Naturally, being an unofficial hack, many things were broken, with performance leaving a lot to be desired.
If you still have your Lumia 950 or 950 XL lying around and you want to try this, though, there may be some good news for you. Gustave Monce, one of the developers behind the project, has said that the team has managed to get many more of the phone's sensors working with the software. This includes the compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, light sensor, and more.
Back in August, the developers had also announced that support for Wi-Fi had finally been added to the Lumia 950, though not the XL variant, addressing another major concern. However, things like the camera still won't work, and not every sensor has been made functional either.
All these updates and fixes will be available in a forthcoming update to the project, at which point it may be much more interesting to install it. Unfortunately, following the announcement, Monce said that this will probably be the end of the road for the project, as some of the missing components are too difficult to work around without any official support. Nonetheless, a lot of progress has been made, and it may be an interesting experiment if you don't need your Lumia 950 anymore.
