A bent iPad Pro "meets or exceeds all of Apple's high quality standards"

Despite Apple's new iPad Pro looking sleeker than its predecessor thanks to its smaller footprint, it looks like many have noticed that their brand new devices are coming bent out of the box. A couple days ago, Apple chimed in on the matter, stating that a bent unit was normal. Now, Dan Riccio, who is Apple's VP of hardware engineering has further elaborated on the subject.

Riccio responded to a concerned consumer's email regarding the bent iPad with the following:

"Relative to the issue you referenced regarding the new iPad Pro, its unibody design meets or exceeds all of Apple's high quality standards of design and precision manufacturing. We've carefully engineered it and every part of the manufacturing process is precisely measured and controlled.

Our current specification for iPad Pro flatness is up to 400 microns which is even tighter than previous generations. This 400 micron variance is less than half a millimeter (or the width of fewer than four sheets of paper at most) and this level of flatness won't change during normal use over the lifetime of the product. Note, these slight variations do not affect the function of the device in any way.

Again, thanks for reaching out and I hope the above explanation addresses your concerns."

Perhaps the stand out quote from above is that the new iPads, with its unibody design "meets or exceeds all of Apple's high quality standards of design and precision manufacturing". This might be the case, but no one likes to open a high priced item and find it less than perfect. Again, Apple has stated that the bend in the iPad won't get worse and that it is not a defect.
