A LEGO version of the Nintendo Entertainment System is coming soon, including a LEGO TV

Nintendo and LEGO already have a partnership in place as the companies prepare to release a whole range of sets based on the Mario franchise, as a celebration of its 35th anniversary. But that partnership is set to go even further soon, as reported by Chinese website VJGamer (via VGC), which found a number of images depicting a LEGO set based on the original Nintendo Entertainment System.

The images reveal a lot about the set, which includes not only the console itself, but also a controller, a cartridge that can be inserted into the console, and an old-school TV, which displays an image based on Super Mario Bros. The set is also interactive, with a crank on the right side apparently making it possible to move the pieces inside the TV screen. Apparently, this set will even interact with the other upcoming Mario set, so you can place the LEGO version of Mario on top of the TV to enable certain sound effects.

According to German website PromoBricks, the set is slated for launch in on August 1, and it will cost €229, which would be roughly $260. The full set includes 2,646 pieces, so it should be a somewhat lengthy project to build.

While an official announcement has yet to happen, LEGO has since begun teasing the set on Twitter:

The LEGO Mario set is planned to release on August 1, too, so the reported release date for this NES set makes sense if the goal is for the two to work as a tie-in. We'll have to wait for official word from either LEGO or Nintendo, though.
