AMD has rolled out a new Radeon non-WHQL display driver version 21.2.3 Adrenalin 2020 Edition. The new driver adds support for Dirt 5's new Energy Content Pack DLC. And while it hasn't been stated separately, the new driver likely also brings support for the new game Update 3.00 that it received yesterday.

The Energy Content pack can be purchased separately from various digital stores, provided you have the base game; and it's free to owners of the Amplified Edition and Year One Upgrade versions. The pack contains:

  • Four new cars (playable in all game modes):
    • Porsche Taycan Turbo S
    • Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    • Alpine A110 Sports X
    • GMC Sierra Pre-runner
  • 25 new Career events
  • New sponsors
  • New liveries
  • New customization options

A list of all the new additions and optimizations made via the game's free Update 3.00 can be viewed here.

Moving on, AMD's new 21.2.3 driver also has several fixes for previous bugs, some of which are related to HDMI. They have been listed below:

  • HDMI Audio Devices may fail to install on Radeon RX 400 and Radeon RX 500 series graphics products.

  • Hot plugging HDMI TV displays in multi monitor system configurations may sometimes cause a system crash or hang.

  • An application crash or hang may occur in Substance Painter™ on Radeon RX 6000 series graphics products.

  • A system crash or hang may occur on the HP Reverb G2™ when connected to Radeon RX 6900 series graphics products.

  • Radeon Software may sometimes fail to gather the latest available Radeon Software versions when performing or checking for updates.

Some other issues still remain unresolved, which are:

  • A system hang or crash may be experienced when upgrading Radeon Software while an Oculus™ VR headset is connected to your system on Radeon GCN graphics products. A temporary workaround is to disconnect the headset before install.

  • AMD is currently investigating end user reports that Radeon Software may sometimes have higher than expected CPU utilization, even when a system is at idle. Users who are experiencing this issue are encouraged to file a bug report in Radeon Software.

  • Brightness flickering may intermittently occur in some games or applications when Radeon™ FreeSync is enabled, and the game is set to use borderless fullscreen.

  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.

The AMD Radeon Adrenalin 21.2.3 driver can be downloaded through the links provided in the driver's release notes page, or through the Radeon settings app by enabling the "Recommended+Optional" choice. The driver is compatible with all GPUs dating back to the GCN 1.0-based HD 7000 series cards both on desktops and laptops.

AMD Radeon enthusiasts will also likely be looking forward to the new Radeon Boost upgrade that's rumored to be coming out soon as part of AMD's yearly graphics driver overhaul.
