Borderlands 3 launches on September 13, coming to Steam six months later

As promised during the reveal at PAX, Gearbox Software today released more information on Borderlands 3. Confirming the previous leaks, the action RPG will be released on September 13, and the PC version is tied to the Epic Games Store, at least for a while.

This exclusivity period is shorter than with other games on Epic's exclusive club, however, with additional storefronts - like Steam - gaining the ability to sell the game from April 2020, six months after launch instead of a full year.

We also got a better look at our new Vault Hunters in Borderlands 3, them being Moze the Gunner, Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, and Zane the Operative, with players exploring multiple planets in addition to Pandora this time in search of Vaults. Gearbox also said that level differences won't matter as much in Borderlands 3 when playing in co-op, as all players will deal "meaningful damage to enemies" and have loot drops fit for their own levels.

Calling this the "biggest, baddest and most ambitious Borderlands adventure we’ve ever made," Gearbox Software president and CEO Randy Pitchford added:

"Borderlands 3 is being crafted not only as a love letter to fans of the series, but also as an ideal entry point for new players to jump-in alone or cooperatively, on or off-line, in the latest and greatest installment of the definitive best-in-class benchmark shooter-looter."

Borderlands 3 is coming for PC via Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on September 13. There are also multiple versions of the game available for pre-purchase, from the regular $59.99 standard edition to a $249.99 Diamond Loot Chest Collector’s Edition.

Moreover, Gearbox has also partnered with AMD for optimizing the PC version to the company's Radeon and Ryzen products.
