Duke Nukem: Still taking forever says Pitchford

Perhaps hell hasn't frozen over quite yet: In a not so shocking announcement, Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford has announced that the game has been delayed until June 14th in the US. Gamers will need to wait a little longer to "come get some" it would seem. In the video above, Pitchford can be seen enthusing about the imminent release of the game only for a lacky to walk behind him and change the date on the placard.

The game has become synonymous with delays with the longest development cycle in gaming history. So much so that some young Neowinians might not have been born when the first screenshots surfaced back in 1997. With 3DRealms no longer in charge of the project after gearbox took over, you would have thought delays were behind them. Let us hope that the extra development time proves beneficial towards the end product.

Pitchford had this to say in a statement:

"I'm very sorry for the added delay, we've all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you."

Gearbox had announced, last year, that the previously trapped in development hell title will finally see the light of day in 2011 and subsequently announced in February that the title would be released on May 6th.
