Here is how much Google's Pixel handsets will cost in India

Google officially unveiled its Pixel and Pixel XL handsets just a couple of days ago with the slightly awkward "Pixel, Phone by Google" branding. The high-end devices are available for pre-order in various countries and can be purchased in the US for the starting price of $649 and $769 respectively. The company has also announced the pricing for its Pixel handsets in India, stating that they will be available for a starting price of INR 57,000 (~$850).

The Pixel and Pixel XL both feature an "aluminum unibody and polished glass combination" and sport nearly identical specifications. The only specifications which set them apart include different displays and battery capacities. Their key features include:

  • 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080px) or 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560x1440px) AMOLED
  • Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC
  • 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • 32GB or 128GB storage options
  • 12.3MP camera
  • Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • USB Type-C port
  • 2770mAh (Pixel) or 3450mAh (Pixel XL) battery

The devices run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box - and are the first ones to do so - and Google has already promised two years of OS updates. They also support the company's Daydream View VR headset, but Google hasn't confirmed if it will be sold in India.

Although Google hasn't announced specific prices for each variant in India yet, it has stated that the devices will be available for pre-order in India on October 13, 2016, starting at INR 57,000. Customers will have access to a toll free phone support number as well as 54 walk in service spread across more than 30 cities in the country. As expected, the "Really Blue" Pixel device is exclusive to the US and will not be offered in India.
