Lenovo announces a 360-degree camera Moto Mod

Lenovo has announced a new Moto Mod for its Moto Z line of devices. The new camera Mod allows users to take 360-degree videos and images using their smartphones.

During a press event in Ghana, the smartphone maker announced its newest addition to the Moto Mod family. However, the full specifications of the camera module are yet to be published. Techdroider reports that the camera has two lenses and uses the 16-pin magnetic connector found on the back of all Moto Z smartphones. The price of the module is still unknown.

From a render released by EVleaks earlier today, we can see the 360-degree camera assembly complements the rear camera unlike the True Zoom Mod which replaces it. It's unclear if both camera modules will be used to enhance the functionality.

Last year, Motorola announced Mods, a new set of accessories for its flagship smartphones. The Mods range from simple back covers to multifunctional camera modules. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera diversifies its already rich offerings.

The Mod is currently available in Ghana only. It remains to be seen whether it will be announced in other markets or continue to be exclusive to just one country.
