LineageOS builds now available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Moto G4, and more

Last month, Cyanogen announced that it was shutting down its services, leaving many to question the future of CyanogenMod. Fortunately, not long after, it was revealed that an independent team is developing a new fork of Android called Lineage OS - keeping in view that CyanogenMod would not be able to survive without monetary support.

The promised Lineage OS builds are now available to the public. However, they are only available to a small number of Android handsets right now.

The team behind Lineage OS had announced that it plans to support more than 80 devices. Currently, it has rolled out experimental and nightly builds of Lineage OS 14.1 for only a few devices, which include:

  • LG Nexus 5X
  • Huawei Nexus 6P
  • Motorola G4/G4 Plus
  • Nextbit Robin
  • Xiaomi Redmi 1S

This list of devices is expected to expand with the passage of time. The developers behind Lineage OS recommend that users do a clean install when switching to their OS. Moreover, they plan to offer weekly updates and support to more than 80 devices which will soon be listed in its roster of supported handsets.

The experimental builds which had been available previously garnered more than 50,000 downloads. You can download the latest builds by visiting the Lineage OS download page here.
