Motorola's Droid X is plagued with screen failures

While the iPhone has gotten all the attention of late for its antenna issue, it goes to show that hardware problems are nothing new in the mobile phone industry.  Motorola’s Droid X launched only a few days ago but widespread reports are hitting the Internet about a serious screen issue with the device.

Users on HowardForums are reporting everything from flickering screens to completely unusable devices (see videos below).  One forum member states that the issue will supposedly be fixed with the .604 update, but to update a phone with an unusable screen may be a challenging task for the affected users.

The videos below show the worst case examples of the screen issue, while these phones are essentially rendered useless, other reports of numerous dead pixels are also surfacing.  To make matters worse, as the phone has been selling well for Verizon, getting a replacement may take longer than the consumer is willing to wait.
