New major version of Facebook Beta app for Windows Phone hits store

It looks like Joe Belfiore was in the holiday spirit today as he let loose news of a new OneDrive update and brand new Music Deals. But, he decided to save the best for last by announcing a new version of the Facebook Beta application for Windows Phone.

While the announcement might not seem like exciting news, this time around, the new update is a little more than just a few bug fixes and general performance improvements. In the latest update, users will be able to take advantage of:

  • Updated design
  • Video upload
  • Messenger support
  • Post detail page
  • Photo commenting
  • Ability to edit comments
  • Tagging improvements
  • Upload improvements
  • Performance improvements
  • “Top Stories” news feed and improved news feed ranking
  • Improved “Most Recent” news feed
  • More news feed content
  • Profile timeline improvements
  • Group feed improvements
  • Event feed improvements
  • Page feed improvements
  • General bug fixes
  • Performance improvements

Although this is probably one of the larger updates to date, the changes have only hit the beta version of Facebook to be tested out. Once that's complete and bug-free the new features will be pushed to the regular app.

The update, which brings the application version to 8.3.4.1, is available now and can be downloaded via the Windows Phone Store.
