The excitement of virtual reality has cooled considerably in the years since its debut, but that doesn't mean there aren't thousands of folks out there enjoying adventures in the VR space. HTC and Oculus have cemented themselves as the top dogs of the VR world and both have their own respective software services. Up until now, you had to choose sides, as you could not enjoy the fruits of the competing company's labor, but now, it looks like HTC and Valve are ready to open its walled garden to all, opening its Viveport Store to those using Oculus Rift headsets.
For the time being, Oculus Rift owners will be able to purchase and download software and games from the Viveport Store and play them on their existing headsets. Oculus Rift owners have had the option of downloading software and games from the platform's own store but this move will give them new options. If you aren't into the idea of purchasing, you can always sign up for a Viveport Subscription, which offers access to a minimum of five games a month for a low monthly fee.
