Playground Games teases a Fable series reboot at the Xbox Games Showcase

To cap off the show today, Microsoft brought back a beloved IP from its catalogue, but not in the hands of a developer you'd expect. It's of course the Fable reboot from Forza Horizon devs, Playground Games.

Earlier in the year, a trademark renewal popped up, with 'intent to use', and the game has been rumored since all the way back at the beginning of 2018, before Microsoft acquired Playground, so it's good to finally have official confirmation of its existence.

Dubbed just Fable, it shows off the world that the players are set to explore in its world premiere announcement trailer. Currently, it's not clear whether this is a reimagined version of Albion, or whether Playground seeks to set this in an entirely new world, although the sword shown at the beginning of the trailer does bear the seal of the Heroes' Guild. Mercifully, while the more cartoony aesthetic seems to be gone, the series' humor hasn't been lost.

Fable is coming to Xbox Series X, Windows 10, and Xbox Game Pass, though it doesn't have a release date as of yet.
