Sony began its Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade program last November, starting with the Xperia X Performance, before gradually expanding it to include more devices in its range.
Last week, it began rolling out the Nougat update to its Xperia Z5 family, the Xperia Z4 Tablet, and the Xperia Z3+. However, the company has since suspended its rollout for all of those Xperia Z-series devices.
Today, the company tweeted about what it referred to as 'inconsistencies' in the update, and said that it will resume the rollout as soon as possible.
Sony provided a more detailed explanation in a statement to XperiaBlog:
We were made aware of reports from some users experiencing inconsistencies related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance, after upgrading to Android 7.0, Nougat. We’ve identified the root cause and are aiming to provide corrective firmware and re-commence the rollout as soon as possible.
Sony hasn't yet offered any firm indication of exactly when it plans to resume the rollout, so if you've been anticipating the arrival of Android 7.0 on one of the affected devices, you'll just have to keep waiting a bit longer for now.
