Windows 8 tablets likely coming from Acer and Lenovo

Windows 8 tablets are almost certainly going to be launch products for Microsoft's next operating system. Today Digitimes reports via unnamed sources that two big PC makers, Acer and Lenovo, are already preparing to launch tablet products that will run Windows 8 for the third quarter of 2012.

The same report also says that the tablets will have Intel running things inside. Specifically, the processor will be the one that currently has the Intel code name Clover Trail inside. Intel plans to launch a processor specifically for tablets and smartphones, code named Medfield, in the first half of 2012.

HP has already announced it plans to offer tablets, along with PCs and notebooks, with Windows 8 sometime in 2012 and its biggest rival Dell is also rumored to have its own Windows 8 tablet plans. Samsung will also offer a touch screen-based PC with Windows 8 and it appears Asus also has similar plans.

There are also rumors that Nokia could launch its own Windows 8 based tablet product sometime in 2012
