XM and Hyundai offer a Real-Time Traffic Service

XM, the leading provider of satellite radio in the United States (8.5+ million subscribers), has negotiated a deal with Hyundai. Genesis, Hyundai’s new, rear-wheel drive premium sports sedan, will be the first Hyundai brand vehicle to offer the XM NavTraffic real-time traffic service. The service delivers real-time traffic information on issues such as accidents and construction delays via satellite to the vehicle's GPS navigation system, allowing drivers to choose a new route that avoids the problem. XM NavTraffic, powered by NAVTEQ Traffic, is the leading real-time traffic service in the United States that offers coast-to-coast updates every minute. In addition to offering XM NavTraffic, XM Radio will be a standard feature on all Genesis trim levels.

"Nearly every new Hyundai sold today already comes equipped with XM Radio's 170 channels of music, news, sports and talk programming. Hyundai is now offering the additional convenience of XM NavTraffic, a real-time service that is certain to save Genesis drivers precious time and money," said Joe Verbrugge, senior vice president, automotive partnerships and international operations, for XM.
