Microsoft shows off more of Fluent Design ahead of the Fall Creators Update

With the release of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update imminent, Microsoft has released a video to showcase the implementation of the Fluent Design System; the refreshed design, along with new effects, can be observed across more of Microsoft's stock apps.

As can be observed, users will begin to see a touch of the new design across their systems. Funnily enough, the best implementation of the Fluent Design can still be observed in the Groove Music app, which is being gutted of most of its compelling features, turning into a mere player for local files, making us question whether it is the best decision to make this app the front-runner in terms of Fluent Design execution.

However, the video does show more stock apps in which the company has applied its new design language. In any case, it seems that only part of the Fluent Design System will be incorporated into the Fall Creators Update. As such, not all of the five key areas that were identified by the company for the visual overhaul will be enacted with the update. Instead only the Acrylic and Reveal highlight effects will be administered for now.

More changes can be expected with time, including the application of the system on the taskbar and Start Menu. Microsoft also updated its UWP Community Toolkit last month to enable developers to take advantage of the Fluent Design System with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

Bear in mind that the tech giant has previously emphasized that the Fall Creators Update won't look radically different from the current Windows 10 design theme. Incidentally, the update will be made available next Tuesday.
