Usually, Samsung updates the Galaxy S lineup at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) around March, but if the latest rumor is to be believed, the Galaxy S9 may get announced early next year. According to a new rumor, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S9 earlier than its traditional timeframe, possibly at the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2018 or a few weeks before Mobile World Congress 2018 kicks off.
The rumor continues to mention that the purported device will come with several enhancements, including the face recognition feature which was introduced with the iPhone X. The FaceID feature is not foolproof on the iPhone X, and if Samsung wants to overtake Apple this time, they'll have to work hard to improve it and make it better. Furthermore, the device is expected to come with improved camera capabilities and top-of-the-line specifications, including the Snapdragon 845 SoC.
Previous rumors suggest that the Korean company is planning to launch three new Galaxy S9 devices next year, which include a Galaxy S9 'Mini' as well. The miniature version is expected to come with trimmed down specifications and a budget-friendly price tag to cater entry-level to the mid-range market segment.
It's advised to take these rumors with a grain of salt as there's no official confirmation from the Korean company itself. The official launch is still months away, and we're going to see a lot of rumors and leaks about Samsung's upcoming flagship devices as time goes by.
