Lenovo Z6 teased with Snapdragon 730, improved AI and more

After announcing the Snapdragon 855-powered Lenovo Z6 Pro in April of this year, Lenovo has teased the regular version of that phone, powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 730 SoC.

Chang Cheng, Lenovo's Vice President, shared some details of the Lenovo Z6 on Weibo today along with an analysis of a few improvements that come with the device. According to the company official, the Z6 will be rocking a chipset that outperforms the Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm's flagship mobile platform for 2018, based on a Geekbench result.

The Snapdragon 730 was unveiled earlier this year along with the Snapdragon 730G and Snapdragon 665. While it's aimed at the mid-tier market, the 8nm-based Snapdragon 730 packs a punch and promises to introduce flagship features to budget-friendly phones. The mobile platform features the Adreno 618 GPU, which supports the Vulkan 1.1 graphics API. It also includes the Qualcomm Kryo 470 CPU, touted as offering up to 35% speed improvement for each core. Two cores are clocked at 2.2GHz while the other six are running at 1.8GHz, as per GSMArena. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 845 had eight Kryo 385 cores, with four units ticking at up to 2.8GHz.

In addition, the chipset is equipped with the Cortex-A76 architecture which offers a performance boost from the Cortex A75 that was found on Snapdragon 845. The AI Engine that's present in the Snapdragon 730 also promises to result in improved battery life when using the camera, thanks to its Spectra 350 with Computer Vision. The rest of its SoC upgrades are outlined in an infographic shared by the company.

Apart from its SoC, other key specs of the Lenovo Z6 are yet to be revealed, though it shouldn't be long before the Chinese firm officially unveils the phone in its entirety.
