It was close to two decades ago when gas prices were great and you could spend a few bucks to get yourself a couple gallons. Nowadays, you'll be lucky get one gallon for a couple bucks and consumers are more conscientious than ever about cars that are more efficient. While Toyota has done an excellent job of getting hybrids into the hands of the masses with its Prius line, many other auto manufacturers have not been as lucky with their own hybrid or electric offerings.
Although the trend to produce more efficient automobiles is becoming more popular with the likes of Tesla producing popular fully electric models, Volvo has announced that every single Volvo vehicle that launches in 2019 will have an electric motor, proclaiming that the move would be "marking the historic end of cars that only have an internal combustion engine (ICE) and placing electrification at the core of its future business".
The automaker will "introduce a portfolio of electrified cars across its model range, embracing fully electric cars, plug-in hybrid cars, and mild hybrid cars". The firm will focus on introducing five fully electric vehicles from 2019 to 2021 to join the mix of its hybrid line. While the above plan is certainly ambitious, the automaker plans to sell a total of one million by 2025. This shouldn't be a problem considering that in its the past couple of years, the automaker has sold more than 500,000 vehicles a year, with increasing sales year over year.
