Adobe revamps Mixamo and will soon be discontinuing support for Fuse CC

Adobe, the company most famous for its photo and video editing software, announced today that it will no longer be continuing support for Adobe Fuse CC. The firm specified that the application will stop working on the upcoming macOS 10.15 Catalina due to conflicting "technological components" on the operating system. However, machines running older versions of macOS and Windows will be able to run the 3D modelling app before it is completely removed from Adobe Creative Cloud next year, on September 13.

Adobe gave its reasons for discontinuing Fuse by stating:

Focusing on these initiatives [Adobe's other offerings of 3D services] requires the full commitment of resources. And as a result, we’ve stopped future development of Adobe Fuse (Beta), a 3D character creation software acquired in 2015.

Furthermore, the company has refreshed Mixamo.com, which is its 3D character rigging and animation web service with new, ready-to-go 3D characters and a revamped user interface. The company wrote in its blog post:

3D characters remain an important aspect of many projects, and we plan to still have robust character workflows in the future. In conjunction, we’re pleased to announce a refresh of Mixamo.com, our 3D character rigging and animation web service. You’ll be able to find dozens of new ready-to-use 3D characters and a refreshed UI.

Adobe acquired Fuse four years ago, in 2015. While it would seem that by discontinuing Fuse CC, Adobe is shifting focus away from 3D models - and in particular humanoids -, that is certainly not the case. The firm clarified that it is streamlining its efforts and will be committing resources to its 3D services like Adobe Dimension, Project Aero, Substance 3D, and others.
