2013 arrives; Verizon's Samsung ATIV Odyssey doesn't

Less than two months ago, Verizon Wireless started taking pre-orders for its first Windows Phone 8-based smartphones, the Nokia Lumia 822 and its version of the HTC Windows Phone 8X. At the time, the wireless carrier said it had the exclusive to sell the WP8-based Samsung ATIV Odyssey as well. However, the company's press release added that it " ... will be available by the end of the year. More information soon to come."

Well, today is the first day of 2013 and so far Verizon has been silent on when their third Windows Phone 8 device will finally go on sale. Before the Christmas holiday, we contacted Verizon's PR rep to get an update on when the company will start taking orders for the Samsung ATIV Odyssey but their spokesperson would not give us any information on when that might happen.

A version of the same smartphone, the Samsung ATIV S, has already gone on sale in parts of Europe and also in Canada. It has a 4.8 inch display, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, an eight megapixel camera, and 16 GB of storage. There's no official word on what the exact specifications will be for Verizon's Samsung ATIV Odyssey.
