Android users can now use Cortana with their Microsoft Band 2

Android users are sure to rejoice today, as they can finally use Cortana with the Microsoft Band 2.

It's a feature that's been a very long time coming. Cortana first showed up on Android in public beta back in August of last year. When Microsoft launched the Band 2 in October, we were told that once Cortana was out of beta, it would work with the Band for both iOS and Android users.

The app was made available on December 9, but there was still no sign of Band integration. Today, Microsoft is finally making good on its promise.

Well, half of its promise. In fact, promising Cortana integration for Band users with iOS devices seems to be a bit of a stretch. Background apps on iOS don't have the same kind of freedom that they do on Android.

Nevertheless, this is fantastic news for anyone with a Band 2 that uses Android, as it's been a much-anticipated feature.

To get Cortana on your Band 2, make sure that your Microsoft Health app is up to date, open it, let it update your Band 2, and then go to Manage Tiles to activate the Cortana tile (it seems to be inactive by default).
