After a fairly long wait of 22 days, Apple has finally released iOS 10 beta 2 to developers. The new images are available for all devices that were supported on iOS 9, with the exception of those powered by an A5 processor.
Apple called iOS 10 its biggest release of the OS to date. Indeed, there's quite a bit that's new. For one thing, it brings an entirely new lock screen experience. Users can now raise the phone to wake it, and now they must swipe to the left to access the camera, rather than swiping up.
The company also performed thorough overhauls of Music, News, Photos, Messages, and more. Of course, that's really the tip of the iceberg. You can check out our hands-on with the first beta right here.
So far, it doesn't look like there is a whole lot that's new in beta 2, although various areas have received some polish. Apple notes that in this release, faces in the Photos app will not sync across devices. Also, any functionality that relies on third-party apps that was introduced in iOS 10 will not be available until those apps are allowed to be submitted to the App Store.
There is a long list of fixes as well, and as you might expect, some known issues, such as the fact that your iPhone 6/6s might "panic" if you use the company's new battery case.
iOS 10 beta 2 is still only available to developers, so if you want to read through the release notes, you can find them here. If you can't wait to get your hands on it, you'll have to. Typically, Apple kicks off the public beta after Developer Beta 3 is seeded.
