Apple to replace AirPods Pro with crackling or ANC issues for free

Apple has launched a service program for AirPods Pro that offers free repairs or replacements to users experiencing issues with noise cancellation or static. According to the notice, units manufactured before October this year have been affected by the aforementioned issues, so it's possible every AirPods Pro ever manufactured might be eligible. Specifically, the program will cover the following:

  • Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone

  • Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

The firm did not get into what caused the issue. While the repair program doesn't extend the warranty on the earbuds, it covers replacements for one or both buds, if needed, for two years after they were first bought.

Users experiencing these issues should contact Apple Support, an Apple Store, or an authorized service provider in their region to verify that they're eligible for this program. If that is the case, Apple will replace or repair the affected AirPods Pro for free.
