Cooperative Bat-adventure Gotham Knights delayed to 2022

Last year, Warner Bros. announced Gotham Knights as a brand new Bat Family-based project coming out of the Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Games Montréal. While the studio had gone silent regarding the game after its announcement, today it delivered some bad news for fans, revealing that Gotham Knights is now slated for 2022 instead of 2021 as originally planned.

"We are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players," said the developer in an announcement on its Twitter page, adding that more Gotham Knights information will be landing in the coming months. Check out the original announcement trailer below.

The gameplay should be familiar to Arkham series fans, though this time, the entire game can be played cooperatively with up to four players that will assume the roles of Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, and Batgirl. While the storyline takes place after Batman's apparent death, this is not set in the Arkham franchise universe made by Rocksteady Studios.

Speaking of Rocksteady, the original Batman studio is also working on a cooperative game of its own under Warner Bros., that being Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is actually set in the original Arkham universe. This game is already aiming for a 2022 launch, so it appears DC fans will get two action co-op games during the year at this rate.
