Dragon Ball FighterZ to release in January, season pass content revealed

The upcoming Arc System Works developed fighting game based on the popular Dragon Ball series, finally has a release date; publisher, Bandai Namco announced today that Dragon Ball FighterZ will launch on January 26, 2018.

The game was announced at E3 earlier this year, featuring remarkably faithful art styles and animations to the long-running anime series. The publisher revealed that a couple of 'minor' villains from the series, Nappa and Captain Ginyu, will also appear in the game as playable characters. Ginyu sounds especially interesting to play as he will be able to switch bodies with his opponents while in battle. Hopefully, for him, there won't be any frogs nearby.

In addition to all the fighters that are included within the game, there will be eight additional characters that will arrive as part of the game's season pass. Dubbed the FighterZ Pass, it will cost $34.99, and each fighter will come with their "respective stamp, set of alternative colors and even Lobby Avatars."

The FighterZ Pass will be included with the game's new digital special editions: FighterZ Edition and Ultimate Edition. The FighterZ Edition is simply a combo of the base game and the season pass. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Edition includes the FighterZ Edition's contents as well, but adds a Commentator Voice Pack and an Anime Music Pack on top.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with a console exclusive open beta planned for January. Early access to the beta will be given to those who pre-order the game.
