Ghost Recon Wildlands free to play this weekend with new deathmatch mode

With a new open world that Ubisoft described as one of the biggest they had ever published, Wildlands is the most ambitious game in the Ghost Recon franchise yet. Since its release in March this year, the company has been pushing out little tidbits of content and had promised a new PVP mode coming this summer for free. Well, it's here.

The new Ghost War mode is a four versus four deathmatch that'll pit players against one another with no respawns and no second chances, bringing to focus the tactical decision-making that is the core of the franchise.

In celebration of the new mode, which will be made available tomorrow for current owners of the game, Ubisoft is also making the game free to play over the coming weekend, starting on Thursday and running till Sunday. The free weekend will enable access to the full game, with no restrictions, and also allow you to check out the new Ghost War mode.

If you like what you see, and Ubisoft's hoping you will, the company is also running a rather generous discount on the game during the weekend, offering 50% off the full game. That brings the starting price of the game from $60 to $30, with the prices going up to as much as $80 (with the discount applied) for the Collector Gold Edition.

The free weekend is, unfortunately, not available on Steam and if you're interested in trying out the game, you'll need to register with your Ubisoft account here.
