Microsoft kicks off its Windows Store Countdown Sale, offering massive discounts

If you visit the Windows Store regularly, you might have noticed that Microsoft consistently offers discounts on apps, games, music, movies and TV shows on a regular basis. It slashed up to 93% off various titles in its Black Friday sale, and offered deep discounts in its "Ready, Set, Summer" and "10 Days of 10 cent deals" promotions prior to that as well.

Now, with the end of the year almost upon us, the company is celebrating its "Countdown Sale", offering discounts on a number of items in the Windows Store.

For the gamers out there, Microsoft has cut down the price of various games by up to 60%. Notable titles in this promotion include Forza Horizon 3: Ultimate Edition, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Wasteland 2: Director's Cut, Oxenfree, Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike, among many others.

If you'd rather watch movies or TV shows, Microsoft has some good deals in store for you as well. You can now get various titles for $8.99 each including Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition, Deadpool, The Martian, The Interview, Minority Report, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, and more. Additionally, the company is offering up to 46% discounts on various movie bundles including the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, Insidious, Rocky, The Grudge, Predator, and Die Hard, among others.

Microsoft is also offering 60% off on various popular TV shows including True Detective, Band of Brothers, Boardwalk Empire, The Night Of, Game of Thrones, South Park, The X-Files, Archer, Suits, Bates Motel and Better Call Saul, as well as many others.

For music-lovers, Microsoft is offering relatively small discounts on select albums from a number of artists including Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, Rihanna, Shawn Mendes, and more.

However, if you simply want to get discounts on apps, the company has slashed the price of several apps, including Wolfram Alpha, Adobe Photoshop Elements 15, Movie Edit Pro Plus, Grapholite, and a few others.

That said, it is important to note that most of the deals included in the promotion last only until the next year - that is, for a little over a week - so if you're interested in any of the items listed, it is advisable that you get them now, before the deal ends.
