Microsoft 'admits' spreading Nimda worm

Visitors downloading files from Microsoft's Japanese Web site got an unexpected surprise yesterday morning – the Nimda worm appearing in their inboxes.

The software giant said some users of its Japanese Web site may have been infected by the bug when they accessed or downloaded files from the Web site. Users of Internet Explorer 5.5 and Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1 were particularly vulnerable, the company admitted in a message on the site.
