Samsung's Exynos 9 SoC could potentially power the upcoming Galaxy S8

News about anticipated smartphones launching this year continues to trickle in ahead of Mobile World Congress 2017, including the belief that Samsung may at least announce the launch date of its Galaxy S8 at the event in addition to details of the forthcoming Galaxy Tab S3 with S Pen. Now, Samsung has released a teaser potentially indicating what is to come with its own Exynos chipset.

While the tweet is short and sweet, the accompanying image offers a little more, and states "Discover cloud 9 with Exynos - coming soon". Together, they may provide some indication that Samsung may soon supersede its existing Exynos SoCs with a brand new line bearing the '9 series' nomenclature. It had been reported that Exynos-powered versions of the Galaxy S8 would feature the 8895 but this morsel of information could perhaps indicate, at the very least, a change of name.

Samsung will ultimately fill in the gaps but it would be a fair expectation that the company would include its top Exynos SoC to go toe-to-toe with Galaxy S8 smartphones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.
