The Surface Duo SDK is now available for macOS and Linux

Last week, Microsoft announced the Surface Duo SDK, releasing that and an emulator for Windows. Via Twitter, Microsoft developer Guy Merin announced that the SDK is now available for macOS, although according to the download page, there's one for Linux as well.

The requirements shouldn't be any different from the SDK on Windows. You'll need to have the latest version of Android Studio installed, and then you can run the SDK and the emulator on top of it.

Last week, Microsoft also said that the Surface Neo/Windows 10X SDK and emulator will be available on February 11. Don't hold your breath to see this one available on macOS and Linux though. Even though Microsoft does make some Visual Studio products for these operating systems, Windows development usually happens on Windows.

But Android development, obviously, happens everywhere, and Surface Duo is an Android product. If you want to start developing for the Surface Duo, or if you just want to play around with the emulator, you can download it now.
