Windows 11 reportedly getting Taskbar changes, App folders in Start Menu, and lots more soon

If you have been following Windows 11 Insider builds recently, you've probably noticed that Microsoft announced no Dev Channel build for this week just like it skipped the week before. Earlier, Microsoft stated that the build "didn't meet" the "quality bar" it has set, and this week too, it announced that it was "still working out a few issues".

The reason for the delay could also be new feature additions and recent leaks certainly seem to suggest just that.

For example, new features like Stickers, and Tablet mode Taskbar have been spotted. Speaking of the Taskbar, other improvements like an overflow flyout have also surfaced. And lastly, changes to Task Manager are probably also coming.

But it doesn't end there as today, fellow outlet Windows Central, citing its own sources, says that it has learned about some more new features.

The first of these is what is being described as an App folder inside the Start menu, which will allow users to arrange different apps. The feature will apparently work by dragging and dropping an icon on an existing one which will create a new folder for both.

Windows Central says that the App folder inside the Start menu is one of the most requested features by Insiders. While we are on the topic of drag and drop, the feature is also coming to the Taskbar.

Up next, we have a new Snap Bar snapping UX that may allow for more options when snapping different app windows. And in terms of aesthetic changes, Acrylic effects are being added to legacy title bars.

Switching over to tablet mode will apparently be greeting users with a new Start Menu and Quick settings panel which can be brought up by touch gesture from the bottom of the screen and will be hidden otherwise, probably meant to increase the desktop size.

Expect these features to gradually roll out to Insiders over the coming weeks.
