Samsung's Exynos chipset with AMD mobile GPU could debut inside the Galaxy Z Fold3

When Samsung announced the Exynos 2100 chip earlier this month, it also revealed that its next flagship Exynos chip will feature an AMD GPU. Since the Korean company tends to release only one flagship Exynos chipset every year, it was expected that the next flagship Exynos chip with AMD GPU would launch in 2022. However, it looks like that's not going to be the case.

Reputed Samsung leaker @UniverseIce claims that Samsung will launch a new Exynos chip with AMD GPU this year itself. The chip might make its debut inside the Galaxy Z Fold3 later this year. The leaker also suggests that Samsung will be using AMD mobile GPUs in its premium mid-range Exynos 1xxx series chips as well. However, the timeline of this Exynos-AMD chip is still not confirmed and there's a possibility that the launch could be delayed until next year.

Samsung's Exynos chips in recent years have been criticized for their poor performance and heating issues. However, the company is looking to change that this year. The Exynos 2100 is already a step in the right direction and offers performance that's on par with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset. With an AMD mobile GPU, the next Exynos mobile chip could very well give the Snapdragon 888 and Apple's A14 Bioinc chip a run for its money in gaming performance.
