Apple wil hold online media event on Oct. 30; new Macs are likely to be revealed

The rumors appear to be true. Apple has just announced it will be holding an online press event on Monday, October 30. The new event is likely to announce some upcoming Mac-based PCs.

Oddly, the start time for the Apple event on October 30 is pretty late in the day on Monday. The company says it will begin at 5 pm Pacific time or 8 pm Eastern time. Usually, Apple's events begin late in the morning in the Pacific time region.

Separate press invites to the same event, as posted on Digital Trends, show a "Scary Fast" tagline for the event. That's a double hint to the speed of the new Mac products as well as a Halloween holiday-themed reference, since the holiday itself happens the next day on October 31.

The "Fast" part of the tagline could be a big hint that Apple is about to launch its new in-house M3 chip as part of a new Mac PC lineup. Previous rumors claimed that the M3 chip could be included in a new iMac and new MacBook notebooks that might launch, or at least be revealed, in October.

More recently, Apple Insider Mark Gurman stated that Apple could announce a new 24-inch iMac model during its October event. Gurman also mentions in that same article that the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the high-end MacBook Pro are currently in short supply so we could see new models, with the M3 chip inside, revealed on October 30.

It's also possible we could get some updates on some other Apple products. While unlikely, Apple could give a new update on the status of its Vision Pro mixed reality headset. That product will be the biggest new hardware launch for the company in some time. It's expected sometime in early 2024 for the price of $3,499.
