Ahead of this year's IFA, LG has introduced a new projector as part of its CineBeam family, known as Cinebeam 4K UHD Laser, or by model number HU810P. While that's a very similar name to the CineBeam Laser 4K from last year, this isn't a short-throw projector, and it's meant to be used more like a traditional monitor.
As far as standout features go, the CineBeam 4K UHD Laser naturally features 4K resolution, and it can project images up to 300 inches diagonally, with 2,700 ANSI lumens of brightness. The projector covers 97% of the DCI-P3 color space, and it supports HDR in formats such as HDR10 and HLG, including support for dynamic tone mapping.
It also has a feature called Adaptive Picture Pro, which can adjust the image based on whether the room is bright or dark, as well as depending on the brightness of the scene on the projector itself. Additionally, there's Real Cinema Mode and TruMotion Mode, so when watching a movie, the projector will change the frame rate to match the original 24fps recording.
For audio, the CineBeam 4K UHD Laser has two 5W speakers, and it can connect to home theater setups via WiSA and Bluetooth. It supports HDMI 2.1 with enhanced audio return channel, so if you have a compatible device, you can get 4K images with 10-bit color and "nearly lossless" audio quality.
On the software side, the new CineBeam projector runs LG's webOS 5.0, with access to services like YouTube and Disney+ if you don't want to connect a separate device. It supports Apple AirPlay 2 and screen sharing from a phone or tablet if you want to connect wirelessly. Finally, the software has an upgraded auto calibration tool, with LG promising results professional-level results.
LG didn't reveal pricing or availability for the new projector, but it will be one of the many products at the company's IFA 2020 virtual exhibition.
