Microsoft to open specialty retail stores in Philadelphia and Tampa

Microsoft has quite a few new Microsoft Store retail locations opening in the US over the next several months. In February, it announced that new store locations would open in Natick, MA, Honolulu, HI, Portland, OR, Schaumburg, IL, and Troy, MI, Now it appears that the company is hiring for two previously unannounced new store fronts.

The Microsoft Careers page shows listings for store managers in Tampa, Florida and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both of these locations will apparently be home for what Microsoft is calling "specialty stores." Microsoft launched these store fronts in the fall of 2012 and they tend to be smaller in terms of square space, with many of them created as mall kiosks that sell a limited number of Microsoft-themed products.

Microsoft currently has 64 combined full and specialty retail stores open in the US and Canada. The next full retail store that the company will launch will be in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, March 9th. As usual, Microsoft will hold a free concert for the people who are the first to line up to enter the store; they will get tickets to see pop singer Kelly Clarkson perform later that evening.
