Microsoft's Whiteboard is finally expanding to Android devices, almost three years after it launched for Windows 10. The online collaboration tool was promised to be coming to multiple platforms when it initially launched, and it debuted on iOS later in 2018, but Android has been left out ever since that original launch.
The Android version is now available in preview, and Microsoft says that it leverages the improvements it made to the web version of Whiteboard last summer. All of the same features from the web version, including sticky notes, are available on the Android app. However, there's a big caveat right now - you need a work or school account to log into the app. Personal Microsoft accounts can't use the app just yet.
In addition to the Android app, Microsoft has also announced a new kind of Whiteboard integration in Teams. Teams added Whiteboard support a couple of years ago, but it was designed for real-time collaboration during calls and meetings. Now, you'll be able to create a new Whiteboard for any given Teams channel or chat, and it will always be accessible for members of the channel to view and contribute to.
You can add the Whiteboard tab by clicking the + icon next to your existing tabs, just as you would add any other tab. If you're on Android and want to try the app, you can download it from the Play Store.
