Hissing sound from Technics DV-250
by DrewJW- 3 replies
- 1.9k views
Hi all, I have recently purchased a Technics DV-250, and while it is in mint conditions, when no music/audio is playing their is a audible "hissing" sound coming from the speakers, this does increase as per the volume, but remains even with volume on minimum. While not very annoying I am concerned. Anyone any idea what this is, and if it requires a repair?

Blu-ray question

Hello everyone! I have had this 32inch Sony HDTV since earlier this year. I just have a question as I am STILL debating this. On my HDTV that's 720p be worth it for Blu-ray? Some DVD's using my 360 are kind of blah. It says it has "24p True Cinema 24p True Cinema mode provides a direct connection to 24p video sources, avoiding conversions and allowing users to enjoy films at their intended 24 fps (frames per second) cinematic picture quality when using a 24p-capable output device, such as a Blu-ray Disc player or PLAYSTATION 3 entertainment system. " Would blu-ray look alot better then a normal DVD at 720p? Would the black bars be gone (please say yes). I fou…

I just bought a LG 42LD550 tonight and hooked up my playstation 3 and xbox 360. PS3 is hooked up via HDMI and the 360 by component cables. When playing games on either console I am experiencing what seems to be lag from the controller and the display. Is there something I am missing in setting this up that would improve this or did I buy a ****ty tv? TV Specs from Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+42%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9791059.p?id=1218175544360&skuId=9791059 tldr new hd tv is laggy

Finally getting a HDTV and PS3

Here is the TV : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+46%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9783649.p?skuId=9783649&id=1218173774957 and we all know what a ps3 is like. I have always had one of those ooold 32' RCA Tube TVs. Finally going digital and saw this tv at Aarons. Got a pretty good plan, on which after about a year or so of payments, I will trade in this tv for a newer one I'm sure. How easy is it to stream movies from a pc to a ps3 to show on the TV, as my computer will be too far to hook directly up to the tv.

New HD TV!
by philcruicks- 1 reply

So Virgin have finally put their cable service to my house, so I?m looking to get a new LED HD TV to go with the new service (and replace the crappy 10 year or more old CRT that is somehow still working). The TV will be for TV/DVD/Blu-ray and yes maybe some good old VHS, possibly a little bit gaming on the 360 but most of that will be done in my room on my monitor. I?ve been looking at LG?s 42LE5900 (?779.99 cheapest with stand) and Panasonic?s TX-L42D25B (?999.00 cheapest no stand) I can also get the panasonic with a blu-ray player for ?1099 (and before anyone asks the 25B and 26B are the same TV just one has a silver frame the other has a black frame.) Are the extra…

Are there any remote controls that have say, 30 programmable buttons to remember favorite channels ? I get tired of pushing 3, 4, even 5 buttons to get to a favorite channel on my HDTV. [example: Comedy Channel is 76.3 ] I'd like a remote that will remember the channels I watch most, and can push 1 button to get to them. I'd like to be able to label the buttons too, with the channel ID. Thanks for any advice. ;) Edit: Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote seems to do this, but is enormously expensive.

"Travel" speakers for convention
by scumdogmillionaire- 2 replies

Does anyone have some expierence with these 'travel' speaker sets to recommend something to me? I've got a booth at a convention that will project some video from a laptop to a large screen, and I need an efficient way to transport speakers and not bring some gigantic PA speakers with me as I'm trying to pack as light as possible. Obviously, they have to be loud! Not so loud that I intend to compete against a full convention hall, clearly, but loud enough that when people are in my booth, they'll be able to hear the audio. Looking at chaining a few X-Mini MAX II's together, but reviews on amazon are pretty mixed there. Any ideas? Thanks!

Best bang for the buck 22" TV
by todd- 1 reply
- 1.9k views
I lost my house in a fire last weekend and am in the process of replacing my belongings. Insurance is paying for everything, but I still want to look for the best bang for the buck. Right now I'm looking for two 22" TVs or about that size. Is there a de facto model to get? Everything I'm finding in my Google searches are old reviews from about a year ago.

Hi, We just replaced our 13 yr old CRT TV with a new LCD that allows playing movies from an external USB HD. I saved a couple of movies to an external HDD I use for backups, hooked it up, and it works like a charm. We are also planning to get another TV for the bedroom, probably same one. I was thinking of getting a 1.5 TB external HDD - looks like they can be had for about $90 - to play movies. Since a regular DVD is about 4.7 Gb and a DivX'd movie is less than that, I should have enough space for a couple hundred movies and then some. Now, the question is - what is the easiest, simplest, cheapest way to share this drive with a TV upstairs, short of running a physica…

DIY Antenna 1 2

I'm considering making this tomorrow (since its 12:37am where i'm at right now lol) but it seems there's room for improvement on the design, anybody got any adjustments to this design they'd like to point out? One adjustment I wanted to ask you guys about was whether or not 0=<0.5 oxygen free speaker cable (5mm, the kind you use to connect subwoofers to an amplifier) is possible to use instead of the two steel wires that the balun connects to? Regards, Steven Johns

Digital Cable issues with signal strength
by ATLien_0- 0 replies

Our house is on Comcast digital cable. We have one DVR box, and 3 other TVs on these new motorola digital converter boxes. Comcast just recently ditched the basic analog cable to basic digital cable requiring these new motorola boxes, they just are for the basic channels 1-78 I believe. Anyways ever since then our signal has been wack, very slow to change channels, signal loss during commercials etc. The DVR box does not do this however, just on these new motorola units. The whole houses cable is wired through a 8 way coax amp. Now my question is, is there anyway to know if the signal breakup is due to signal loss (needing an additional amp) or signal overload (ditc…

Hello, I'm looking for a home theater package that is good, at least for the price. I know for $300-400 I'm not going to get something as nice as I'd like but I wanted to see what you guys thought. I found this one earlier: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BEDQR6/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0MHRFVKNDX30EGAJHDKF&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846 Or maybe I could find a receiver somewhere on eBay and find a nice speaker package to go with it?

Hi gang, So on Saturday morning, I had the standard config: Sky+HD box connected directly to the TV via HDMI Blu-Ray player connected to the TV via HDMI Sound outputs from both routed to my wife's 10 year old Sony 5.1 amp Saturday afternoon we went over to Richer sounds and bought: http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/sony/strdn1000/sony-strdn1000 http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packages/onkyo/sksht528/onky-sksht528-blk So i cabled it up, putting the HDMI out from the Blu-Ray and Sky+ HD boxes into the back of the receiver, then plumbed the HDMI out from the receiver into the TV. Sorted. But; now I have to have the receiver on to watch TV …

I'm looking to a buy a turntable hopefully below ?80, but im finding it a much harder task than i thought it would be. A lot of the sites dont show reviews for the products, and ive heard a lot about turntables not playing at a steady speed, having poor quality etcetc so i was wondering if anyone here could reccomend me a turntable of the best reliability and quality within my price range. my major use for it would be buying vinyl and ripping it to my computer.

okay, so i need to hook up a VGA display to my video card which has only mini displayport outputs i've thought about buying this: http://hdfury2.co.uk/hdfury-p-10.html it takes a DVI input and outputs VGA on the other side, but now i have to find a way to go from minidisplayport to DVI... preferably in the same cable, and that the cable will have to be quite long since this is for a display installation

New TV, No bass through HT
by techbeck- 5 replies

Recently bought a new LG 46in TV. I am trying to use it with a Sony Home Theater System model DAV-HDX500. Its one of those $400 all in one systems. Anyway, when I bought the TV I found out that it had no RCA out to my receiver. So I went out and bought an optical cable since that was the only audio out the TV had and my receiver had an optical in. All 5 speakers play sound just fine but there is no bass coming from the subwoofer. I ran the speaker test from the receiver and I can here bass then with the test sound...but my XBOX, DVD, Blue-Ray or laptop...no bass is played at all. With my old TV, it plays bass just fine using the RCA cables so I know its not an issu…

Panasonic DMR-XS350
by lt8480- 2 replies

Long story short, old aerial at my house doesn't work and the reception is horrible in the area anyway, instead of paying for a new aerial, Im going to go for a satelite dish, which is easier and cheaper for me to install. TV is fine, (its not HD, when the budget allows it will be replaced later in the year anyway). But looking at connecting the follow device up to the current TV without using a HDMI for a temporary solution: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/DVD+Recorders+%26+Players/DIGA+DVD+Recorders/DMR-XS350/Specification/2359663/index.html?trackInfo=true Im guessing a scart or other cable would allow this? - fully aware I wont get HD, but just wonder…

How long do VHS tapes last?
by DaDude- 7 replies

After researching all over the internet, all articles say that VHS tapes last from 10-20 years. But that is what puzzles me. I have this VHS tape at home that?s over 25 years old. It was my dad?s tape. It?s a video of some concerts he recorded from TV. I used to love watching it when I was little. I would watch it over and over and over when I was a kid. Of course, it doesn?t get watched much now since I?m older. But this video was watched A LOT when I was a kid and believe it or not, it still works till this day. And it?s over 25 years old. My dad started recording on it in the early 1980s. And it?s now 2010 and it still works! So, how long do VHS tapes really last? Wi…
