Gears of War 4's enhancements for the Xbox One X detailed

The Coalition promised more details on what enhancements will arrive for the Xbox One X version of Gears of War 4 in its October Update announcement a few days ago. Keeping to its word, the studio today unveiled what it has in store for Microsoft's upcoming console.

Similar to Rise of the Tomb Raider's upcoming Xbox One X enhancements, where players will be given choices between high fidelity and high FPS options, Gears of War 4 players on the new console will also have options. These come in two flavors, known as 'Preferred Rendering Options':

Performance
Put framerate first. For the first time ever on console, Gears of War will play at up to 60fps in 1080p in Campaign and Horde - all including higher resolution textures and some of the new enhanced graphical features available in Visuals mode.
Visuals
Push graphical fidelity to the max. This mode uses Ultra Quality Textures, a wealth of new and improved graphical features all at 4K resolution (3840x2160) thanks to the power of Xbox One X. You’ll experience the same frame rates you’ve come to expect from Gears of War 4 – 30fps for Campaign and Horde .

The Versus multiplayer mode, on the other hand, will be locked to 4K resolution running at 60fps using adaptive resolution scaling on both rendering options.

In addition to HDR and Dolby Atmos support, available on both Xbox One S and Xbox One X, the game will feature some exclusive graphical features on the upcoming console. The introduction of enhanced light shafts, dynamic shadows, increased draw distances, and improved reflections should make the game's experience a much more immersive one. Meanwhile, character textures will also be getting an overhaul, giving humans and other creatures much more detailed features than before.

The Xbox One X enhancements for Gears of War 4 are now available as a part of the new October Update. Anyone with an Xbox One can download the enhanced content right now by going to 'System' and selecting 'Download 4K Game Content'. The game and the enhanced content can then be transferred to an Xbox One X once the console launches on November 7.
