Microsoft is introducing new features for its Microsoft 365 suite of products today, which are meant to help IT management. These include a management experience for Windows Virtual Desktop, a unified control plane with Microsoft Endpoint Manager and Azure AD, and an improved Microsoft Productivity Score.
With the new Windows Virtual Desktop management experience in the Azure portal, you can setup host pools, manage apps, and assign users. You can choose where you want your data to be stored in datacenters across the U.S. and Europe, and Teams is coming to Windows Virtual Desktop. Teams is going to be available in May.
There are some security features, of course. Azure AD single sign-on can now be used with as many apps as you want on all pricing tiers, and that includes the free tier. Microsoft is also announcing the general availability of Microsoft 365 Records Management, which lets you classify, retain, review, dispose, and manage data without compromising security. Finally, Productivity Score lets you measure your employees against company benchmarks. The feature was originally announced at Ignite last year, but it's not going to offer deeper analytics, breaking up data into categories like Content Collaboration, Mobility, and Communications. Productivity Score is in preview now.
