Microsoft celebrates Valentine's Day with two ads professing love for Cortana

Valentine's Day is just a day away, but Microsoft has already put out two ads that, not only showcase Cortana's ability to win your heart, like she did with the people featured in the videos below, but also features the Lumia 635, Microsoft's entry-level smartphone. Below is a reminder of the specifications.

  • Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor
  • 512MB RAM with 8GB of storage expandable via microSD
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • 5 MP camera without flash
  • 4.5'' Clearblack Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (854 x 480) display
  • 1830mAh battery

The above video features a young woman recounting how she had to tell her dad that she had fallen in love with the Microsoft device, mainly for its personal assistant, and ends with her recalling that her dad put his arm around her and said "Honey, we know you were never an iPhone girl." Awww.

The second video features a young man with the same theme, but this time a break-up is also part of the equation. In it he says "One day, I just had enough," and then goes on to explain how Cortana makes him a "better person", this time ending with "I would never go back to Siri."

Clearly Apple is the target here again, although we have to admit that the 30-second ads are clever, and quite appropriate for this time of year.

Our very own Andy Weir was also whooed by Cortana earlier today, when he received a bunch of gifts from his personal assistant. He also assures us, that no matter what she says, she only has eyes for him.

If the ads didn't convince you, Microsoft is sweetening the deal with a good price: the Lumia 635 can be picked up for just £49.99 on EE in the UK.
