New Overwatch content based on the Moon teased by Blizzard

While Overwatch is still celebrating its first anniversary, Blizzard has come out with a new teaser concerning the Horizon Lunar Colony, with an in-lore news report consisting of newly uncovered communications logs between the late scientists.

According to Overwatch lore, the Horizon Lunar Colony was set up to test the effects of extended stay in space using genetically enhanced gorillas. The tests came to an end when the gorillas staged a revolt and took control of the facility, killing the human scientists in the process.

This sudden teaser may be heralding the arrival of a new map to the game set in the Horizon Luna Colony. One image taken from the monitoring system, seen above, reveals an overview of a structure, which could be unveiled as a new map in the future.

On the other hand, this could also mean the arrival of a brand new hero, considering the transmission reveals another specimen missing (other than Winston), going by the name of Hammond. Called a smaller test subject in a communication log, seen below, Hammond could be another primate that will arrive for Overwatch.

Moreover, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan said “there’s some really cool hero news, just on the horizon,” in a live stream last week. Considering the lunar colony's name is Horizon, Kaplan may have been alluding to this new development on the moon.

All in all, keep in mind that no concrete dates have been announced by Blizzard just yet, only revealing that at least one new hero and new standard maps are in development for the game. For anyone interested in probing for more clues in the announcement, the blog post can be found here.
