Nintendo will allow you to create a Mii character on a web browser

It appears that the Japanese video game company is set to introduce a new method for users to create their Mii characters on a computer or smartphone. Previously, this could only be done on consoles.

Nintendo's Mii characters have been around since the company introduced the Wii console back in 2006. The digital avatars are a cartoonish and expressive way of representing the user, and they've been part of every console Nintendo released since then, including the 3DS, the ill-fated Wii U, and now, the Nintendo Switch. Mii characters were even at the center of Nintendo's first smartphone game, Miitomo.

But even though Nintendo has been making games for smartphones for over two years, and though the company's business strategy seems to be paying off so far, the company has never provided a way for Mii to be created outside of Miitomo and its own gaming systems. This means that if your only contact with Nintendo games is Super Mario Run or Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, you have no way to create a Mii for your Nintendo Account.

It looks like that could be about to change, however, as the company is now planning to launch a web-based service to allow the creation of Mii characters. This would allow users to access their Nintendo Account through a PC or mobile device and create their own digital version of themselves without having to necessarily purchase one of Nintendo's gaming systems.

Details on the features and capabilities of the tool are scarce, but we shouldn't have long to wait as Nintendo is aiming for the end of May as a launch date.
