Up until now, multiple leaked renders of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S21 series have been providing us a rough idea of the design of the upcoming devices. Now, a short hands-on video from YouTube user ‘Random Stuff 2’ featuring what the user says is the entry-tier Galaxy S21 provides us the clearest view yet of the South Korean giant’s upcoming flagship offering.
The video completely showcases the front and rear designs of the device, which seem to be in line with earlier reporting. The front of the device features a centered punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. The display is a non-curved one with extremely thin bezels and houses a large speaker cut out at the top, right above the front shooter.
At the back, the phone houses a triple camera setup – which the sensors placed linearly, one below the other. The camera bump – just like the rumors and renders suggested – flows into the frame of the chassis. The flash is located next to the bump. While reports hint at the possible inclusion of a plastic back panel in place of glass, it is not clear from the footage what material the phone actually uses.
The user also performs a Geekbench benchmark, which reveals the “lahaina” mention for the motherboard, which is the possible codename for the Snapdragon 888 SoC. The scores are also in line with multiple other listings on Geekbench, many of which seem to be for a Samsung SM-G996 variant, which is likely the model number for the Galaxy S21 series.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S21series on January 14, earlier than its usual launch schedule. It will be interesting to see what the company has in store for users with its flagships this year.
