Rumor: Apple's 10th anniversary retail store launch to have special event?

On May 19, 2001, Apple officially launched its first retail store (actually it launched two stores on that day; one in Tysons Corner, Virginia and the other in Glendale, California). Now rumors are flying that for the 10th anniversary of that launch Apple is preparing some special stuff to celebrate that event. Boy Genus Report, reporting via unnamed sources, has the details which have yet to be confirmed by Apple.

According to the site all Apple stores have received some kind of hardware with more coming on Friday and Saturday. Furthermore some Apple store employees will be working late Saturday night through mid-Sunday and that during that time black curtains will be put in place over all of the stores' windows so that folks who happen to be walking past won't be able to see what's going on inside.

Apple Store employees will have special meetings planned for Sunday morning, according to the report's sources. Finally the story claims, "Employees have had to download gigabytes of data from Apple corporate labeled, “training” in a password-protected zipped folder that won’t accessible to managers or anyone else until Saturday afternoon."

So what in the wide, wide world of sports is going on? Is Apple prepping for a major product launch that until now has gone unnoticed by even the deepest and darkest sources of Apple rumor news sites? Is all of  this just preparation for a major Apple product sale to celebrate the Apple Store's 10th anniversary? Or is it something else entirely?
