Elon Musk has moved the unveiling date for Teslas' electric semi-truck back slightly to the 26th of October 2017, the vehicle was supposed to be revealed sometime during September.
Musk has been teasing people about this coming vehicle, that he describes as a beast, which will also be one of the world's first heavy-duty all-electric trucks. People interested in seeing the vehicle in October will apparently be able to do so by heading over to Hawthorne, California where the company's offices are located.
There has been lots of speculation regarding the payload, distance, and the extent to which the truck is autonomous. According to some emails found by Reuters, the truck might transport goods in convoys or platoons. Another report also hints that the truck might be what is considered a day-haul truck, with a range of just 200-300 miles. The unleashing of the prototype next month signifies the entry of Tesla into new territory; previously, Tesla has focused on making its electric vehicles in the form of quite expensive luxury cars, with the exception of the Model 3.
The range of an electric truck is the big question mark surrounding this new development, however, recently a Tesla model S was able to make a journey of over 600 miles on a single charge, which may have had satisfied some skeptics.
