Yoga Fire: Capcom raises the stakes with potentially combustible Street Fighter II cartridge

If you're interested in reliving a bit of your youth or are just a rabid fan of the Street Fighter series, Capcom in collaboration with iam8bit is offering a limited edition Super Nintendo (SNES) cartridge for Street Fighter II. The cartridge commemorates the game's 30th anniversary and can be had for $100.

The game will be limited to 5,500 copies and will be a working cartridge that can be used on any SNES console. The game will come packaged in a trifold box with nice touches like foil, gloss, and embossments. It will also come with an instruction booklet and other unannounced surprises.

Along with the opaque "Ryu Headband Red" variant, the firm will also offer a translucent glow in the dark version of the cartridge dubbed "Blanka Green". The Ryu version will be numbered at 4,500, while only 1,000 of the Blanka version while be made available. These cartridges will be packaged at random, so what people get will be anyone's guess.

Perhaps the most curious part of the listing is the warning in fine print towards the bottom of the product page. It warns that by using a reproduction cartridge on an SNES, it could cause the console to overheat or catch fire. The firm warns to "make sure there is fire extinguishment equipment nearby" and even adds a tidy disclaimer that absolves iam8bit and Capcom from anything that might happen. If you're ready to challenge your friends to some old school fighting fun and potentially experience some explosive moments, you can head to the source link down below.
