CD Projekt RED card game GWENT arrives to Steam

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, CD Projekt RED's take on collectible trading card title, is now available on Steam. The platform jump arrives almost two years after the title originally released on Windows via GOG following a long beta run. It is based on the popular card mini-game by the same name found in The Witcher 3, but the standalone version is free-to-play and some major tweaks have been made to make the multiplayer balanced.

The new GWENT Steam store page states a GOG account is required to play the game, so anyone who's already a player on CD Projekt's own platform or mobile and wishes to switch can carry over their progress. Crossplay capabilities with other platforms, as well as Steam achievements and trading cards are enabled too. There is also a 4K asset pack available for free as a separate DLC pack on Steam for those running high-resolution displays.

Here's how the developer describes the title on its store page:

Blending the CCG and TCG genres, GWENT sees you clash in fast-paced online PvP duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction. Collect and command Geralt, Yennefer and other iconic Witcher-world heroes. Grow your collectible arsenal with spells and special abilities that dramatically turn the tide of battle.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is currently available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, as well as Android, and iOS platforms. However, the development of console versions was halted late last year. The studio is currently letting players on those platforms copy their accounts to PC or mobile before the complete shutdown happens on June 9, 2020.
